Jorge Polónia is the Principal Investigator of the PhamaHTA Research Group of CINTESIS.

He graduated and earned his Doctoral Degree from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto (FMUP) and specialised in Pharmacology and Clinical and Internal Medicine.  Currently, he is the Coordinator of the Pharmacovigilance Unit of Porto, a Consultant of Medicine and Hypertension at the Pedro Hispano Hospital, an Associate Professor of the Department of Medicine of FMUP, and Guest Full Professor at the University of Aveiro.

It is at CINTESIS that the researcher develops his pioneering study on hypertension and salt consumption in Portugal (PHYSA study), which is his main research area. Through his work, Jorge Polónia aims to “identify the modifiable factors that determine the excess mortality from stroke in Portugal”, thus achieving one of his life goals – contributing to health promotion solutions.

His CV includes numerous scientific awards, mostly attributed to works in the area of ​​arterial hypertension; and more than a hundred scientific articles published in international journals.
